It is the only discipline that trains the body, mind, emotions and social intelligence all at the same time. Here are 8 concrete reasons why thousands of parents around the world — and in Klaipėda — choose ballroom & Latin dance for their children.
1. Great posture and coordination
Ballroom & Latin dance training teaches proper posture and body control from the very first lesson. Children who dance complain less about back pain and grow up with a naturally upright spine. The coordination that children develop through dance helps them in other sports too — from swimming to tennis.
2. Memory and concentration
Learning dance combinations means training memory constantly. Research shows that dance stimulates neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to form new connections — more than simple physical exercise. Children who dance often do better at school and find it easier to concentrate in class.
3. Discipline without pressure
Ballroom & Latin dance teaches discipline through joy. A child learns to arrive on time, listen to the coach, and repeat a step until it works — but all of this happens in a fun, motivating environment. At our school it matters to us that every child comes to training happy and wants to come back.
4. Self-confidence and stage experience
Competitions and performances are a unique chance for a child to experience what it means to prepare for a public performance and pull it off successfully. That self-confidence carries over into school, friendships and the rest of their life. Many parents notice that their children start speaking to adults and teachers much more confidently after a few months of dance.
5. Social skills and friendships
Dance is a team sport. Even partner dances require communication, trust in your partner and sensitivity to another person. Group dances build a strong team spirit. Many of our dancers become friends from their very first classes and grow up together over several years.
6. Ballroom & Latin dance is for everyone — including boys
Parents often ask: is dance suitable for boys? Absolutely, yes. Breakdance, hip-hop and even ballroom & Latin dance are popular with boys all over the world. Olympic athletes, boxing champions and footballers regularly use dance elements in their athletic training. Everyone is welcome at our school.
7. Competitions as motivation, not stress
The structured competition system — with grades from E2 up to E6 — gives your child clear goals and visible progress. Every tournament is a celebration, not a source of stress, and a chance to show what they have learned. Our best dancers take part regularly in international WDSF tournaments.
8. In Klaipėda — taught by World champions
The founder of Tendance dance school, Dmitrij Popov, is a multiple-time World and European champion in the Latin dance formation team and a judge for the Lithuanian Dance Sport Federation. Training with champions is not only about technique. It is about being in an environment that shapes a champion's mindset.

From what age can a child start?
At Tendance children can start from the age of 3. There is a dedicated programme for our youngest dancers, where coordination, rhythm and social skills are developed through play.
How much does one month cost?
Prices depend on the group and the number of classes per week. Get in touch — +370 659 07615 (Evelina) — and we will give you an accurate quote based on your child's age and the style you prefer.
What should my child wear to their first class?
Comfortable sportswear and non-slip shoes with a slightly raised sole (not sneakers). Proper ballroom dance shoes are only needed after the first few months, once your child is sure they want to continue.
